Football Table
Materials: You will need a green plastic tablecloth, masking tape, popsicle sticks, hot glue, a paper cup and scraps of paper.
Preparations: Spread the tablecloth out on your table. Designate yard lines with strips of masking tape. Glue popsicle sticks together in the shape of goal posts. Turn a paper cup upside down. Insert the popsicle stick goal post into the cup. Add glue where the popsicle sticks come up from the cup to help stabilize the post. Put a goal post on each end of the table. Leave scraps of paper on the table for your guests to fold into small triangles to be used as the footballs.
Activities: Play your own Super Bowl football toss games. Flick for extra points. Throw over your opposition to gain yards. Slide past your opponent to get into the end zone.
Prize Boards
Materials: You will want poster boards, string, tape and markers.
Preparations: Draw lines on the poster board dividing it into squares. On each square, write a Super Bowl prediction. Here are some examples. At the end of the first quarter the score will be 14-7. The AFC team will win the game. The NFC team will be ahead at halftime. Vary your topics for predictions to appeal to your guests. Hang the poster boards around to decorate the room. Attach one or more markers to each poster board using string and tape or have markers set nearby.
Activities: As guests arrive, let them fill in the squares. Allow them to choose 5 squares per poster board for instance and sign their name on those squares. Throughout the party, award small prizes to each winner of a square. At the end, award a larger prize to the person who has won the most squares.
Team Banners
Materials: Get butcher paper and markers for this team decoration.
Preparations: Make a banner for each Super Bowl team. Start the banner yourself by writing the NFL team name and mascot on it. Add artwork in the team colors.
Activities: As guests arrive, people will add to the banner of their favorite team. Encourage them to draw, add cheers and sign their name. At the end of the game as a reward for choosing the winning side, let the winning fans run through the other team's banner. Have losing fans line up and form an arch for winners to run through a tunnel before figuratively and literally tearing through the other team's banner.
